Tuesday 29th November

Lucy, Lee, Sophie (picture 1) and I went to a night food market for something to eat and a few beers last night. Just after Lucy and Lee left it chucked it down so Sophie and I had to have a couple more beers to avoid getting wet. Must be honest I didn't choose well with my food which was disappointing, but to make up for it I introduced Sophie to Carlsburg and their advertising campaigns.

Then on the way back we stopped in a very English bar for internet access for Sophie. We weren't drunk, but we did spend quite a while chatting when we got back to the room.

This morning we left the hotel at about 8:45 to make our way to the Cameron Highlands.  This is a mountain range in the middle of Malaysia and discovered by a man called Cameron - funny that. I have a feeling he was a Scot.

We stopped for lunch at about 1:30. Lucy, Lee and Sophie decided to go straight to the hotel and eat there, so the rest of us went to a local restaurant. I know I've eaten a lot of sweet and sour, but I do love it and today's surpassed everything! It was heaven.

Then we went to a tea plantation (pictures 2 and 3). Quite impressive to see acres and acres of tea plants. Paul our new tour guide took us around the factory and was very interesting. (Unfortunately for some reason I keep thinking of the recent film with the guys from Hot Fuzz in, but's probably because I'm watching The Boat That Rock and the other guy (not Simon Pegg) is in that.) After a cup of tea, of course, and a lot of interest in British tea traditions and myths, I put them right, especially about cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off, we were taken to a butterfly farm ~ for some reason I decided to pass on that one!

Finally arrived at the hotel at 5:30, we're quite a walk (for me anyway) from the town so I might just abuse the hotel bar.  And in case I forget in the morning, the bottom picture (number 4) is the view from the window tonight and tomorrow morning. We're off at 8:30 again going to Kula Lumpa - don't you just love that name :-) although apparently those in the know call it KL, but that just reminds me of Kings Lynn in Norfolk!
